About
I’m a third-year student at Nimeto, studying to become an immersive designer (Ontwerper Immersieve Toepassingen). What I like most is mixing real, physical things with projection, so people can actually do something with it instead of only looking at it. Some of my projects started as school assignments or for open days, and others I just made at home to see if I could. I usually learn the tools while I’m building: TouchDesigner, Arduino and Adobe were all new to me when I started. Next to that I paint, and you can find those on my Art page.

01 — How I work
01
People have to join in
I don’t want people to just stand and look. In Sticky Clash you stick paper on the wall and build the course yourself, and at Plakwerk a robot suddenly appeared and followed you around. With Into the Clouds we didn’t want anyone to need a headset or a phone. You could just walk into that world. That’s what I try to do in most of my projects.
02
I use what I have
I don’t always have the right materials or much money, so I work with what’s there. The hologram box was made with things that were lying around at school, and my robot hand started out as cardboard and string. At school they told me that’s exactly what they liked about it: I solved it creatively with the things I did have. It doesn’t always work out, like the crystal version of the hologram, where a bigger stone was way too expensive.
03
I keep testing
My first versions are rarely good. In Sticky Clash the outline around the paper kept moving at first, and it only got good because I kept testing. At Plakwerk we struggled for a long time with TouchDesigner and the tracking, and when it crashed we had to make a lighter version fast. Into the Clouds didn’t turn out how we wanted, but I learned a lot from it.
