What it is
Fashion App is my own AI stylist on my phone. I made it by myself, just for me. Not for school and not to sell.
The app looks at my Pinterest board, and that's how it understands my style. It also knows the clothes I already have. You take a photo of a piece of clothing and the app cuts it out. Then it turns it into a webshop photo, like the ones on Zara: the piece laid flat on a light background, with nobody wearing it.
With one button you get an outfit from your own closet. When you open a look from Pinterest, you see right away what you already have, what comes close and what you're still missing. Find My Pieces looks for the missing pieces in real web shops. The app checks if the link really works and doesn't make up prices. There are also trends from TikTok and Pinterest, and a week planner with the weather.
Why I made it
I save a lot of outfits on Pinterest. When I see an outfit I really love, I want the app to understand why I like it, look at what I already have and help me get exactly that look. Not just finding clothes that are roughly the same, but really understanding which details make an outfit special.
I wanted an app that looks and works like a real fashion app, but completely my own.
How it works
It's a web app that sits on the home screen of my iPhone. It runs on my own Raspberry Pi at home, and through a secure link it also works when I'm out. My data stays at home: no accounts with big services and no cloud storage.
The AI is Claude, through my own subscription. It comes up with names and outfits, works out my style, and searches web shops. An AI model for clothing on the Pi itself recognises the pieces in a photo and cuts them out. The webshop photos are drawn by an image AI on my laptop. That takes about a minute per photo, because the Pi isn't strong enough for that.
Everything also works without AI. Then the app looks at the type of clothing and the colour. Friends and family can get their own account, with their own board and their own closet.
How I made it
The idea was mine. I came up with what the app had to do and how it should look. I can program, but not very well, so I built the app together with Claude Code, an AI that writes code. I tested everything on my own iPhone and gave feedback after every round.
I started on 30 October 2026, and since 1 November it has been running on the Raspberry Pi.
How it went
The first version had way too much text. My feedback was: mostly images and little text, very easy, short and to the point. After that the app became a lot calmer.
The webshop photos weren't right at first. My black jacket turned grey and my denim got too dark, and I saw that straight away. Now the app compares the colours with my own photo.
When I searched for a fisherman's sweater, I got a women's sweater. Now the app knows who it's searching for, and it also looks at the product photo.
I also wanted everything to be fast. A page now opens on the Pi in 0.1 to 0.3 seconds. I'm still working on it.
What I learned
Less text works better. The app got a lot calmer when I used more images and fewer words.
I can't just trust what the AI makes. The colours of my clothes and the search results were wrong at first, and I had to point that out.
You don't have to be good at programming to make a working app. Claude Code wrote the code, but I still had to come up with what the app had to do and keep testing it.

The home screen. The circle is made from my Pinterest board (not my photos), with my colours and my style in one sentence.

My closet. These are my own clothes, redrawn as webshop photos.

Every piece gets its own page. "Originele foto" shows the photo I took.

A look from my Pinterest board (not my photo), with the pieces from my closet that come close.

One tap gives an outfit from my own closet.

Find My Pieces searches real web shops and checks every link.

Every piece from my board, redrawn as a product photo.

What the app learned about my style from my board.

Further down the home screen: today's outfit from my closet and new trends (not my photos).

Adding a new piece: a photo of one piece, a whole outfit in one photo, or a link from a web shop.

Under a look: what I still need to buy, and more looks like it (not my photos).

Create Outfits. Here I can check an outfit, plan my week, pack for a trip or ask my stylist. Below are looks from my board that I can rebuild (not my photos).

The week planner, with the weather for every day. Today already has an outfit.

Trends from TikTok and Pinterest, and how I can wear them with my own clothes (not my photos).

Top: photos I took of my own clothes. Bottom: the webshop photos the app made from them.
